About the Record

Revised 2026-10-16

RecallDockets is an independent, plain-English register of vehicle safety recalls and federal safety investigations.

Why a docket?

Official recall notices are written for regulators. They are precise, but they are rarely easy to read. We file each recall as a record — with the make, the hazard class, the number of vehicles affected and a clear explanation — so owners can quickly understand whether it matters to them.

How records are classified

  • Fire Risk — defects that may cause a fire or thermal event.
  • Brakes & Steering — anything that affects stopping, steering or wheel retention.
  • Airbags & Restraints — occupant-protection systems.
  • Power Loss & Electrical — stalling, loss of drive power, software and display faults.
  • Investigations — open federal probes and regulatory actions.
